Flagship Store
76A PONSONBY ROAD, GREY LYNN, AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND
Curionoir produce hand-crafted candles and essential parfums for both skin and space. Situated in an original turn-of-the-century building on Auckland's historic Ponsonby Road, Tiffany Witehira’s flagship is dark and enveloping – limiting senses of sight and touch while heightening olfaction.
The 40-sqm space showcases Curionoir’s hand-poured candles, hard soaps, and parfums in an illuminated apothecary-style wall display of stained Walnut and aged brass. A large monolithic point of sale, hand-carved by the Witehira family, centres the store and provides customers space to test and compare fragrance notes around a large cast bronze vessel. This experience is complimented by a selection of notable European mid-century designs by Pierre Jeanneret and Serge Mouille.
The Curionoir flagship has a strong connection to history and speaks to a heritage of makers and craftspeople – evidenced by Witehira's commitment to producing distinctive and strangely opulent products in a high-end market. The space is one in which surfaces are rich and highly crafted creating a design language that is communicated through the senses.
